Despite the pressure, the U.S. team quickly began turning the scoreboards red. Xander Schauffele delivered the first point for the Americans, dominating his match against Jason Day. Schauffele led by five after nine holes and eventually won 4 and 3, setting the tone for the day.
Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay followed suit, securing victories over Sungjae Im and Taylor Pendrith, respectively. While Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns couldn’t manage wins in their matches, the U.S. had already built a solid foundation.
Captain Jim Furyk’s strategy of putting his top players at the front of the lineup paid off. With Schauffele, Henley, and Cantlay contributing crucial points, Bradley was in the perfect position to close out the competition. After Bradley secured the Cup, five matches were still being played, but the outcome was already decided.
