Rookie Golfer Reflects on Scary Incident at Valspar Championship

During a recent golf tournament, rookie Chandler Phillips had a mix of feelings after an unexpected event. At the Valspar Championship, while playing, Chandler accidentally hit two spectators with his golf ball. This happened at the eighth hole, and one of the spectators, a woman, was injured. Chandler, although achieving his career-best with a third-place tie, was deeply affected by the accident.

Chandler didn’t see the ball hit the spectators but found out right after. Seeing the injured woman and another person holding an ice pack made him really worried. Even though he continued to play, he admitted he felt “not right” and his game was off because he was thinking about the injured spectators.

Despite this incident, Chandler finished strong in the tournament. But rather than celebrating, he was concerned for the people he accidentally hit. He hopes they are okay and feels sorry for what happened.

Chandler is looking forward to playing in Houston next, close to where he grew up. He’s expecting support from friends and family, and he’s excited but also carrying the weight of the recent incident. He wants to remind everyone that golf, although fun, can have unexpected moments like this.
