Bryson DeChambeau and Donald Trump’s Breaking 50, Racks Up Over 4 Million Views in a Day

Turns out, Bryson DeChambeau and Donald Trump make a pretty good pairing on the golf course. The two-time U.S. Open champion and the former president teamed up for a round of “Break 50,” a game where DeChambeau and a celebrity or athlete partner aim to shoot 49 or better in a two-person best ball format from the front tees. Their game was played for charity, benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project.

DeChambeau announced on Monday that he would be releasing a video of their round on his YouTube channel. The round took place at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey in the first week of this month. Interestingly, the video was filmed just before the reported assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania.

The video, which has now taken the internet by storm, features almost exclusively golf talk, with a few light-hearted conversations about Trump’s favorite music and other off-the-course activities. There was only a single mention of the debate squabble between Trump and President Joe Biden discussing their own golf games.

While DeChambeau, unsurprisingly, carried much of the load throughout the round, Trump impressed with his driver and putting skills. On a few holes, they even scored while only using Trump’s shots. Although they didn’t manage to “Break 50,” they did tie the lowest score on DeChambeau’s channel to date, scoring exactly 50.

For each shot they finished under par, they donated $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project, amassing a total of $220,000 after going 22-under. DeChambeau expressed his gratitude on his channel, saying, “I want to thank President Trump for coming on this episode of Break 50! It was an honor to play a round with the former president and raise a ton of money for the Wounded Warrior Project. This was all meant to be about golf, good fun, and supporting a great cause.” He also included an option for fans to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project directly through the YouTube video.

In just one day, the video has garnered over 4 million views, quickly becoming a viral sensation. The collaboration between a major sports figure and a former president, combined with the charitable cause, captured the attention of viewers worldwide. The video has sparked discussions not only within the golf community but across social media platforms, highlighting the power of combining sports, celebrity, and philanthropy.

The success of this video underscores the impact that high-profile collaborations can have on platforms like YouTube. It demonstrates how quickly content can go viral, especially when it features well-known personalities and supports meaningful causes. For DeChambeau’s channel, this video has significantly boosted his subscriber count and engagement, proving that golf content can be both entertaining and impactful.
