Rory McIlroy Does a 180

Rory McIlroy wasn’t the biggest fan of LIV Golf and the LIV Golf world. With the competition of the PGA Tour slowly diminishing, McIlroy does not feel the same about winning tournaments. He wants to win against the best golfers in the world. A great chunk of that list of A-list professional golfers are on the LIV Tour.

Now let’s question the potential merger of the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. Where players can flip back and forth where they want to play for that week. Imagine there is a completely different and new professional golf schedule where there is a tournament one week for the PGA, then the next week for LIV. This will allow players to not have to decide on which tour to play on, on a week to week basis. They will be able to play for both tours without question.

With the potential merger, and the chances are looking slim with PGA’s new $3 billion deal with Strategic Sports Group. What will happen to the LIV Tour contract system, or the PGA? Will golf become a guaranteed money contract sport like baseball, football, and all the other mainstream professional sports? I guess we will just have to take a seat and watch this all unfold.
